Piasa Creek cuts down through Macoupin County limestone toward the big river, and this bluff country changes character every few miles — timber, then a hayfield, then a yard carved into the side of a hill. Warm months here mean mowing on ground that rolls, trimming where a deck cannot reach along rock and fence line, edging drives that curve with the land instead of against it. Hines Outdoor Services works those yards and lots, and when winter comes up off the river the job flips entirely: plowing, shoveling walks, salting the grades where a slope and a glaze make a bad pair.
