Piasa Creek cuts down through Macoupin County limestone toward the big river, and this bluff country changes character every few miles — timber, then a hayfield, then a yard carved into the side of a hill. Warm months here mean mowing on ground that rolls, trimming where a deck cannot reach along rock and fence line, edging drives that curve with the land instead of against it.
