Snow falls differently downtown — it comes in wet off the river and turns to slush under the first set of tires. Blackshor Services Inc gets to it early, while the Warehouse District is still dark: lots pushed back to the curb line, walkways opened, salt down on the brick and the loading aprons before any door unlocks. A cleared lot is a small act of hospitality; it tells everyone pulling in that somebody was already here at five. Along Water Street and up through the flats that is the entire assignment — snow off, ice handled, the morning able to start on time. Nothing about it is loud, and all of it shows.
