Four in the morning on the bluff, and the streets above Peoria are blue with new snow and completely silent. Aim To Tame is out in it — plowing driveways, opening walks down to the pavement, laying salt where the grade wants to send a car sideways. The hills up here do not forgive an unplowed drive; by breakfast a sloped approach can be a small ski run. So the truck goes early, and the aim is simple: when the porch light comes on, the way out is already clear. What gets left behind is a black strip of pavement and the sound of a plow fading toward the next street.
