Hurley's Green Envy Lawns

About Hurley's Green Envy Lawns

Fair week in August turns Pecatonica into the busiest small town in the county, and the grass pauses for none of it — a hot, wet stretch of summer here puts on growth faster than any schedule likes. Hurley's Green Envy Lawns holds the weekly line anyway: cutting at a height that keeps color through the heat, trimming tight around posts, trunks and foundations, blowing the walks and drives clean before leaving. Come fall the work shifts to leaf clearing on streets where old maples arch clear across the pavement. Every yard has a corner a mower cannot make; the trimmer settles it, and that is usually the whole difference between cut and finished. A green lawn in late August, north of the river road, is worth the trouble it takes.
