About Huttes Excavating & Concrete

Pana was built on coal and rail, and it still keeps a coal town's early hours. On a February night, when the wind comes down off open ground and packs snow hard against every north-facing curb, Huttes Excavating & Concrete is out with headlights burning, cutting drives and lots back to the surface underneath. There is a particular quiet at three in the morning — engine, blade, nothing else — and a particular pleasure in the first truck that rolls out at six without slipping a wheel. Storm after storm, the objective stays the same: a clear way in and a clear way out. Winter in central Illinois is long, and this work is honest about that.
