Wind crosses Tampier Lake with nothing to slow it, and by August it carries the smell of warm water and dry field grass over the yards on the west side of Palos. Doodey Bros handles the summer end of that — regular mowing, clean edges along the concrete, trimming around posts and bed lines, and the cleanups that bracket the season at either end. Late-summer turf is a test: it stalls in the heat, then surges after a rain, and the schedule has to bend for both. The reward is a lawn that holds its color into September and takes a straight line without complaint. Steady work, done on time, in a corner of town where the sky is most of the view.
