About Figgins Trees & Turf, Inc.

The bluffs above the river at Saw Wee Kee still hold burr oaks with the thick, fire-scarred bark of the old savanna, and Oswego yards carry that inheritance in their shade trees. Figgins Trees & Turf, Inc. tends the ground beneath them — mowing, trimming, and hauling off the acorn-and-leaf fall that seems to arrive all in one October week. Turf under oaks is a negotiation, and it rewards a cut height chosen on purpose rather than by habit. Once the leaves are down and the ground goes hard, the same work turns to plowing drives and opening walks. The year follows the trees, and it ends wherever the snow does.
