The first inbound train pulls off the 153rd Street platform while the neighborhoods behind it are still dark. Kas Services Inc works those blocks during the day — mowing, trimming, edging along walks — so the yards are finished before anyone comes back up the street in the evening. It is a small kindness of the trade: the homeowner never sees the work happen, only the result, and the result is a lawn that looks like somebody spent a Saturday on it. Orland summers are generous with growth and short on free time. Keeping the two in balance is the work.
