Eureka's older streets run under big maples, which in Olio Township means a lawn is half sun, half shade, and never quite one thing. Clark & Frahm LLC mows those in-town yards along with the wider places out on the section roads, keeping the cut tall enough in July that the shaded turf does not thin out. There is a plain satisfaction in the look back from the sidewalk — stripes running the length of the yard, the trimmer line even along the porch skirt and the fence, the walk blown clear. Spring opens with a cleanup that clears the winter's wreckage off the grass and out of the beds. From April to the last warm week it is the same route on the same day, which is most of what a lawn actually asks for.
