The Metra tracks and Northwest Highway run their long diagonal through Norwood Park, and at the blue hour in January the whole corridor is one unbroken white. Avalanche Snow Systems is out ahead of the first inbound train — lots plowed and stacked, entries and walks shoveled, ice hit with salt before it can take hold. Storefront aprons along the highway get opened wide enough for a delivery truck to swing in. Between rounds, drives on the side streets are shaved down to the asphalt and squared off at the ends. Snow removal is a night trade here, and morning is where the proof shows.
