Toms Snowplowing

About Toms Snowplowing

By five in the morning the storm has usually eased, and Northbrook's cul-de-sacs sit under that strange blue light snow makes before sunrise. Toms Snowplowing is out in it, working driveway by driveway — plowing the aprons, shoveling the walks and steps, salting where the shade keeps ice alive all day. Residential streets take patience: tight turns, parked cars, mailboxes to respect, and a neighbor still asleep on the other side of every wall. The reward comes at seven, when a garage door goes up and there's simply nothing in the way. Clean pavement, square banks, a clear path to the door — that's the whole job, done right.
