Snow plowing by Brass

About Snow plowing by Brass

There is a sound a plow blade makes on cold concrete at four in the morning, and in a sleeping Naperville subdivision it carries for blocks. Snow plowing by Brass makes that sound early so nobody else has to think about it — drives and lots pushed back, walks opened, salt down where ice would otherwise set. By mid-morning the same storm has become the good kind of snow: sleds on Rotary Hill, boots on the walk, the town out in it. Getting from one to the other is only steel, salt and being awake first. The satisfaction is in the straight edge of a bank and the clean square of a driveway apron.
