Murphysboro's older streets run on a grid the mining and railroad years laid out, with big shade trees leaning over the pavement and yards that sit square to the road. In October those trees let go all at once. S&S works those blocks, mowing and trimming through the season, edging the walks, then clearing the leaves off the grass so the turf can breathe its way into winter. Feeding and weed control keep the color steady when the summer sun turns mean in July and August. This is the kind of upkeep nobody notices until it stops, which is a decent enough reason to keep doing it right.
