E & D SNOW PLOWING

About E & D SNOW PLOWING

Three in the morning in Mount Prospect: the lots around Randhurst lit and empty, the signals on Central Road blinking to nobody, and the snow coming sideways the way it does when there is nothing west of town to slow it down. That is E & D SNOW PLOWING's hour. Blade squared to the curb, driveway after driveway opened while porch lights are still the only color on the street. By the time the Northwest Highway commuters are scraping windshields, the aprons are cut back, the walks are cleared, and salt is down where shade would otherwise hold ice all day. Nobody thanks a clear driveway at dawn, but everybody notices one that isn't.
