Spank's Tree Service

About Spank's Tree Service

Out around Montmorency the section roads run straight to the horizon, and the only things breaking the line are the farmstead windbreaks — walnut, silver maple, a row of pines somebody set against the wind a long while back. Spank's Tree Service works that open Whiteside County ground, where a summer squall crosses the corn with nothing to slow it down and leaves half a maple lying in the yard by morning. The days run to tree removal on the trees that are finished, tree trimming and pruning on the ones with plenty left in them, and storm damage cleanup when the wind has already made the decision for you. There is real satisfaction in the last pass with the rake — the drive open again, the grass combed flat, the brush hauled out to the road. Come January the same yard reads as shelter instead of clutter, which is what a well-kept tree is for.
