Jake's Mowing

About Jake's Mowing

There is a July version of every Monticello block — mowers going, hoses out, the water tower standing over the heat of it — and a January version of the same block with the curbs gone under white. Jake's Mowing works both. Summer means mowing, trimming, edging and hauling off the clippings; winter means plowing drives, shoveling walks and breaking up the ridge the road plow leaves at the end of the sidewalk. Doing both years means learning a yard's quirks in every weather: where the grass burns thin, where the drift always builds. That is most of the trick, and it makes for tidy summers and passable winters. Serving Monticello and neighboring Piatt County towns.
