Take the same driveway twice: once in June, when the grass off toward the Monee Reservoir is up past the fence line, and once in January, when the whole block is one color. Jim's Lawn Care works both of those days. Warm months mean the weekly cut, the trimmer, the edge along the drive; cold months mean plowing, hand-shoveling walks and salting the ice that forms where the roof drains. The village sits high and open on the prairie divide, so weather here is never subtle in either direction. What stays the same is the pavement showing at the end, swept clean or scraped clear depending on the month.
