The evening light in Minooka holds late in June, long enough to finish a yard after supper and still see the line the mower left. Out past the last houses the grain elevator stands over the rail line, and a freight goes by while the trimmer works a fence corner. G.c. Designs keeps lawns cut, edged and trimmed through the growing season, with cleanups when the leaves and clippings pile up. The payoff is small and exact: a clean border where turf meets sidewalk, and grass laid down in even rows. It is exacting work in a town that grew up around farm ground.
