About Snow and Ice Control Inc

West of town the fields lie open and flat, and a January wind will lift yesterday's snow and set it back down across a driveway in long white ribbons. Snow and Ice Control Inc plans for the wind as much as for the storm — plowing, stacking the banks where they will not blow back in, salting the corners that refreeze once the light goes. A clipper drops three inches and the drift builds ten, and both have to be gone before dawn. McHenry, Ringwood, Woodstock, the roads out through Bull Valley: one wind, one property at a time. The night ends when the pavement is dark again and the walks are down to bare concrete.
