Butterfield Creek slips through Matteson under the streets and out along the Old Plank Road Trail, and by Saturday noon in July the whole town smells like cut grass. Will's Lawn Care is part of that sound and that smell — mowing routes through the subdivisions, string trimming around trees, posts and fence lines, edging the walks and drives until the boundary is a drawn line instead of a guess. Illinois summers here swing from soggy to scorched, so the cutting height moves with the month and the grass gets read before the blade ever goes down. Spring and fall cleanups bookend the year. Matteson, Park Forest, Flossmoor and Olympia Fields are all a short run.
