Marion sits at the front porch of the Shawnee hills, and in October the ridges south of town go copper and rust while the yards in town fill steadily with hickory and oak leaf. Revival Land Management works right through that turning: mowing while there is still growth in the blade, trimming the lines back, then hauling the leaf load off before it mats down and smothers what is underneath. When the hills go bare and the first real system pushes in from the west, the same crews are out plowing drives, opening walks, and putting down salt where shade keeps the pavement cold all day. There is something honest about tending one piece of ground across a whole year and watching it come back green on the far side. That return trip is the best part of the job.
