West of Mahomet the land opens all the way to the horizon, and green out there is not one color but a whole spring's worth of them: the first faint haze over the fields, the soft green of a lawn in May, the hard bright green of turf cut on time. Green View works within that range, mowing, trimming and tending yards for the length of the growing season. When the fields go brown and then white, the work changes to plowing driveways, clearing walkways and putting salt where ice wants to take hold. The village sits under a great deal of sky, and out here weather announces itself early if somebody is watching for it. Watching is part of the job.
