On a Saturday in June the newer streets on Mahomet's south side fill with engine noise and the smell of cut grass, and Colton's Lawn Mowing is somewhere in the middle of it. These are young yards on young cul-de-sacs, sod laid over prairie soil that will grow anything you ask of it and several things you didn't. Keeping them sharp means staying ahead of a central Illinois June, when one wet week can put four inches on you before anyone notices. The work is plain and it is honest: cut it even, trim what the mower can't reach, sweep the walk, move on.
