About Collins Excavating, Inc.

The McDonough County courthouse square sits at the center of Macomb, and on a January morning it is the first place that has to be passable. Collins Excavating, Inc. plows the lots and drives around town before the doors open, opening the approaches, cutting the walks to bare concrete and putting salt on the corners where boots always slip. Western Illinois winter takes its time and then arrives all at once, and the rolling ground here means one drive is clear while the next holds a drift on the shaded side. Piles get placed with March in mind rather than just tonight. It is straightforward work, and the reward is a town that gets on with its day.
