About 518 Services or Five One Eight Services LLC

At four in the morning the Rock River is a black seam under the bridges and Machesney Park is nothing but streetlights and falling snow. That is the hour 518 Services or Five One Eight Services LLC is already moving — plowing driveways, stacking piles where they will not block a sightline, cutting walkways down to pavement before the first alarm clock goes off. Salt follows on the slick approaches, the aprons, the shaded runs beside a garage. Northern Illinois storms come in fast off the open ground west of the river and they do not negotiate, so the routes are planned and the trucks stage early. The measure of the night is simple: everybody gets out of their own drive.
