Salt Creek comes down to meet the Des Plaines right at the Lyons line, and November is the village's own confluence — the month one kind of work hands off to another. Lupfer Landscaping runs both sides of that handoff, mowing, trimming and clearing yards through the growing months, then plowing drives and lots and salting walks once the cold settles in for good. There is a particular week when the mower comes off the trailer for the last time and the plow goes on, and it always feels like turning a page. Either way the standard holds: even lines in the grass, bare pavement under the snow. Lyons asks for both, so both stay on the schedule.
