Cermak Road cuts east and west across Lyons, and the properties along it get two entirely separate versions of this crew's year. In July, Elite Lawn Care is mowing, trimming and edging through the heavy noon heat, chasing grass that gains an inch between visits. In February the same addresses become plow routes and salt spread, walkways scraped down to bare gray. Both jobs end the same way — standing back and seeing a finished line where there was a mess half an hour before. The village looks different in each season, but a well-kept lot looks like itself all twelve months.
