About BDS Trucking & Excavating

Litchfield sits where the prairie stops pretending to have hills, and in January the wind crosses those open miles with nothing standing in its way. BDS Trucking & Excavating works the snow here — plowing driveways and lots, cutting back the drifts that build along fencerows and section roads, laying salt where the wind polishes pavement to glass. The work starts in the dark, headlights swinging out across a white field, and it ends when somebody steps outside to a clean apron of concrete and never has to think about it. There is a particular pride in the last pass, the one that trues up the corners and puts the pile where it won't block the view pulling out. By the time the trucks come off the interstate into a bright, cold morning, the drives are already open.
