Yackley Avenue turns in mid-October, the maples going up all at once, and for about ten days Lisle looks like a postcard nobody planned. Ryan's Landscape is out underneath them with cleanups, hauling the drop away before it mats down and smothers the turf beneath. The rest of the calendar splits cleanly: mowing, edging and trimming while the ground is green, plowing and salting drives and walks once it is not. There is a plain pleasure in handing back a yard that has been put in order, nothing showy about it, just finished. Come the first storm, those same driveways are open before anyone has to think about them.
