Mad About Trees

About Mad About Trees

Winter shows the trees of Lincoln for what they are, bare architecture standing over Latham Park and every street that runs off the square. Mad About Trees works underneath them when the weather turns, plowing driveways, clearing walks and steps by hand, and salting the places that glaze over after a thaw. Prairie snow refuses to stay where it lands; the wind moves it all night and rebuilds whatever you cleared, so you go back out. The hour before sunrise is the good one, when the drive is open and the town has not yet woken up to learn what fell. Cold work, plainly satisfying.
