S&S Tree Service

About S&S Tree Service

October comes up the Spoon River valley as fog, and by mid-morning the bluffs above Lewistown are rust and gold clear to the river bottoms. S&S Tree Service spends those weeks in Fulton County yards and fence lines — trimming back what has crowded a roofline, pruning young hardwoods so they grow with some sense of direction, removing the ash and elm that have quietly given up. When a line of thunderstorms tracks in from the west and drops limbs across a county road, storm damage cleanup starts early and runs until the way is open again. This is old, walked country, and the trees standing in it were mostly planted on purpose by somebody who wanted shade over a porch. The reward is simple and easy to see: a clean cut, a squared-away yard, an old tree carrying one more good decade over the house.
