About Donegal Services

Lemont was cut out of limestone above the river, and its streets remember it — they tip and climb, and when a storm glazes them at two in the morning that grade matters. Donegal Services runs snow here all winter: plowing drives and lots, clearing walks and entryways down to the pavement, salting the slopes and the shaded corners where ice sets up first. Weather comes into the valley on a hard northwest wind and drifts along the fence lines, so a lot opened at midnight often wants another pass by dawn. They make it, because the measure of the work is somebody stepping out at six and finding blacktop where the storm was. Quiet streets, cleared drives, the plow still running as the sky goes gray — that is a good night.
