About Dearborn Group Inc.

Winter arrives in Lake Bluff from the water side, wind coming up over the bluff while Lake Michigan is still black below it. Dearborn Group Inc. works the hours before that dark lifts, plowing drives and lots and clearing walks while Sheridan Road lies under one unbroken sheet of white. A drive opened wide and salted down to the pavement is its own kind of pride here — the neighbor backs out without a second thought and makes the early train. Ravine streets drift in ways that have to be learned one at a time: where snow gathers, where ice sets underneath it, where to stack it so it doesn't blow back by noon. Snow removal for homes and businesses in Lake Bluff and the villages beside it, finished before the morning knows it happened.
