D & M LAWN SERVICES

About D & M LAWN SERVICES

Most of this work happens in the dark. When a band of lake snow comes across Cook County and lays into the neighborhoods between Archer Avenue and the Des Plaines River, D & M Lawn Services is already out with the lights on. Driveways get pushed back to the curb line, walks and stoops shoveled and salted, entrances opened so nobody has to guess where the step is. The river woods and the forest preserve hold cold, and what fell wet at midnight will be locked up hard by six, so timing matters as much as muscle. By the time Justice starts its morning the plowing is behind it — black pavement, a clear path to the door, and a street that looks like the storm already lost.
