About Shawnee Hills LandWorks LLC

Snow does not visit southern Illinois often, but when it does it finds the Union County ridges first, and every road out of Jonesboro turns into a grade somebody has to climb. Shawnee Hills LandWorks LLC exists for those days: plowing driveways and lots, clearing walks and steps by hand, and laying salt on the slopes and turnarounds where ice sets up hardest. The work happens in the dark, mostly, headlights on falling flakes and the scrape of a blade the only sound on the hill. What people see at daybreak is the part that matters — a drive open end to end, a path to the door, a car that gets out to the highway. When it thaws by afternoon, so much the better; the storm was still covered.
