Greeney’s Lawncare and Services

About Greeney’s Lawncare and Services

Spring shows up early in Johnston City, drifting north out of the Shawnee Hills while much of Illinois is still waiting on it. By April the yards of this old Williamson County coal town are already pushing new growth, and Greeney's Lawncare and Services is out to meet it. Southern Illinois summers run long and humid, the kind that make grass gallop between cuts, so cutting often and edging cleanly are what keep a lawn from getting ahead of its owner. There is a quiet pleasure in a front yard brought back to order, the grass level and the edges tight along the walk, while cicadas tune up in the trees overhead. That is the work here: lawn care for a small town in a corner of the state that knows how to grow things.
