February around Jarvis is mostly wind. Snow doesn't so much fall here as travel, sliding off the open ground and building into long ridges wherever a fence line or a windbreak slows it down, so a drive plowed at nine can be closed again by noon. J&J Landscaping LLC goes back out, opens it a second time, clears the walk to the door and puts salt where the ice sets up. When the thaw finally comes and the ditches green, the same trucks come around for mowing, trimming and edging, with cleanups at either end of the growing season. Both halves of the year come down to the same thing: leaving a place tidy and passable, whatever the weather has been doing to it.
