About Noffke Lawn & Landscape

On the open Kankakee County ground the wind does not need new snow to make a storm — it lifts what is already down and lays it across the road in long ridges. Herscher lives with that, and Noffke Lawn & Landscape plows into it, cutting drives and lots open, clearing walks, and salting the slick places the wind polishes smooth. Some mornings the work gets done twice before breakfast because the drifts come right back. There is a plain kind of pride in a farm drive opened end to end while the fields are still smoking with blowing snow. Bare pavement, a passable walk, and somebody gets where they are going.
