618 Cut & Clean

About 618 Cut & Clean

The 618 covers a lot of ground, and Herrin sits near the middle of it, where Route 148 runs north out of town and the fields go from soybean green to gold in one hot stretch of weeks. 618 Cut & Clean works those mornings before the dew has finished burning off, when the grass cuts clean and the clippings still smell like rain. Mowing, edging, string trimming along fence lines and foundations, then the part that gives the name its second half: walks blown clear, driveways swept, nothing left behind but the stripes. There is a plain satisfaction in a yard that looks finished rather than merely cut. Come fall the leaves let go all at once around here, and those get hauled off too.
