By the middle of October the yard oaks out in Hensley let go all at once, and a lawn that was tidy on Friday is ankle deep by Sunday. JT's Tree and Crane keeps up with the mowing through that stretch and moves the leaves off grass, walks and drives before they mat down. Autumn light out here arrives low and gold across the stubble fields, and it makes a raked yard look like something worth stopping for. The grass gets one last even cut before the ground goes hard for the year. Then the walks are swept clean, and the place is ready for whatever winter decides to do.
