Smith Excavating

About Smith Excavating

Out past the Harrisburg city limits the drives get long and the gravel gets deep, and opening them takes more machine than a pickup blade. Smith Excavating brings that weight to winter — pushing snow off lanes and lots, cutting approaches wide, stacking piles far enough back that the next storm has somewhere to go. Walks and entries are shoveled and treated so the cleared ground is genuinely usable. Storms in this county tend to run wet and dense, the kind that pack under tires and set into ruts by noon, which is reason enough to get there early. A half-mile drive that goes from white to open in one pass is a plainly satisfying thing to look back at.
