About Jake's Lawn & Tree Service

Snow finds Peru early and stubbornly, blowing in over flat farm ground and piling against every north-facing drive on the hill. Jake's Lawn & Tree Service runs the dark hours against it — plowing driveways and parking areas, shoveling steps and walkways, laying salt on the glaze that follows a thaw. There is a real satisfaction in a lot that is black and wet at sunrise while everything around it is still buried. Storms in the Illinois Valley do not file paperwork ahead of time, so the work goes when the weather goes, overnight and through the weekend if that is what it takes. Peru gets where it is going in the morning; that is the point of the job.
