A Granite City year has two distinct halves, and this outfit works both of them. From April to October Diamond Cut Lawn Care is out mowing, edging and trimming the yards around Nameoki, keeping lines sharp enough to read from the street. Then the light shortens, the leaves go, and the same trucks are rolling before dawn to plow drives and salt walks after a night of snow. Winter in the bottoms is not always deep, but it is sudden: a thaw, a hard freeze, and by morning every driveway is glass.
