Barrow Landscapes

About Barrow Landscapes

When the January wind comes up the Illinois River valley it climbs the bluffs and reaches Germantown Hills first. Barrow Landscapes runs the snow through those nights — plowing driveways that pitch down toward the road, opening turnarounds, clearing walks, and putting salt on the grades that would otherwise turn into a slide. Sloped ground asks for a thought-out pass: the snow gets stacked where it will not slump back across everything by noon. The reward is a porch light at six in the morning shining on bare pavement instead of a drift. Storm by storm the work covers the village and reaches out toward Metamora, Washington and East Peoria.
