Shinn’s Lawn Service

About Shinn’s Lawn Service

Galesburg raised a poet in a three-room cottage on East Third Street, and it is still a town that pays attention to plain things done well. Shinn's Lawn Service starts most days while the dew is on, running the mower in even passes, trimming close where the blade won't fit, drawing a straight edge where the lawn meets the walk. Spring and fall bring the cleanups — raking out the winter litter, clearing the leaf drop before the rain packs it down. It is honest, repeating work, and the proof of it is a yard that looks composed rather than merely shortened. On these prairie streets a well-kept lawn is a small daily sentence in favor of the place.
