About Don Owen Landscaping

In Galesburg the freight trains keep their own clock, rumbling through town at all hours, and somewhere between one horn and the next a lawn gets mowed. Don Owen Landscaping tends lawns in the city where Carl Sandburg was born, among old houses on brick streets and yards that run green right up to the curb. June comes on thick and fast across the Knox County prairie, and grass cut on a Monday is asking for attention again by Friday. The work is simple to name and satisfying to see: a lawn cut even, the trim tidy along the sidewalk, grass that looks cared for when the neighbors stroll past. It is a steady, unshowy sort of pride, the kind a railroad town understands.
