East of Galesburg the land rolls down toward the Spoon River, and in late October the fields go from green to stubble almost overnight. Morss Mowing & LaWn-CaRe follows that turn, mowing and trimming while the grass still asks for it, then cleanups, then the wait for the first real snow. When it comes, the plow goes on and the work moves to drives, walks and lots, with salt where a north-facing slab holds its ice all week. Both halves ask for the same thing: show up, finish the edges, leave nothing for anyone to go back over. The winter version just happens in the dark, heater running, the town still asleep behind its storm doors.
