About Angeles Outdoors

Winter storms reach Fairview Heights from the west, crossing the river and the bottomland before they climb the bluff, and by then the wind has usually made up its mind. Angeles Outdoors is out ahead of the morning in those hours, blade down, headlights on an empty subdivision street, a driveway opened before anyone has found their boots. Salt goes where the ice likes to hide: the shaded half of the walk, the low spot at the apron, the slab outside the back door. There is a particular satisfaction in the black stripe of bare pavement behind the plow and the bank of snow set neatly out of the way. By the time the sun comes up over the ridge, the drive is dry and the day can start on time.
