Winter in the Fox Valley announces itself on the radar hours ahead, a long band coming in from the northwest, and everything after that is timing. Tovar Snow Professionals watches it that way, staging before the first flake and moving through Elgin as the storm does, plowing, opening walks and treating surfaces ahead of the freeze. An ice event asks for a different answer than eight inches of powder, and knowing which one is on the way is most of the job. When it ends, the drives are open, the lots are cut clean and the pavement is treated. The town gets to go about its morning.
