On a Saturday in July the near-east side streets sound like one long mower running, and Pepe's lawn maintenance is part of that sound: cutting, trimming, edging along the walks, pushing the cuttings back where they belong. Come January the same blocks go quiet under a foot of snow and the work changes to a plow blade and a shovel at the front step. Two seasons, one route, the same houses. Neighbors notice a yard that is kept, and they notice a cleared sidewalk even faster. Both come down to showing up when it counts.
